The Flysch Trail
The Basque Coast Geopark, declared a UNESCO Global Geopark in 2015, has some unique sights to offer related to nature tourism and geo-tourism.
The Geopark comprises the municipalities of Mutriku, Deba and Zumaia. On the coast, the magnificent flysch cliffs catalogue over 60 million years of geological history. Take a stroll along the cliffs, book a boat trip or just sit and enjoy the spectacular sunsets. The trail continues inland, in a maze of green valleys and mountains that have been inhabited since prehistoric times. In this karst landscape, you will find the largest set of archaeological cave sites in Gipuzkoa, including the Ekain Cave, a listed World Heritage Site. There is a complete and varied range of guided tours on offer all year round.
