Stroll through the Old Quarter of Hondarribia
Hondarribia's medieval centre, a listed Historical-Artistic site together with the La Marina district, is a unique set of palacios and ancestral homes.
Because of its position next to the border, the town was an important military stronghold, as attested by many of its constructions: the narrow Santa María Gate, the Castle of Emperor Charles V and the Plaza de Armas (Parade Ground). Another must-see is the town's fishing quarter and the colourful La Marina district. From the Txingudi bay, you can take a boat across to Hendaye or climb Cape Higuer, with its beautiful lighthouse. If you want to walk to Hondarribia through natural surroundings, you can start from Mount Jaizkibel, to the east, overlooking the Txingudi Bay.
